Enamelled dishware

Steel coated in vitreous enamel: lightweight tableware that handles heat and suits every use. Mugs, plates and bowls for the kitchen and everyday table, as well as the garden, the campsite or the van.

Enamelled steel, a material for everyday living
Enamel is a thin layer of glass, fused at high temperature onto a steel base. The result is tableware lighter than ceramic, which holds neither odours nor flavours. It takes piping-hot drinks and hot food in its stride.

At home
Morning coffee, a bowl of soup, a plate of fruit on the table: enamel belongs in the everyday kitchen. Its colours and gloss dress up a simple table, and the pieces stack easily in a cupboard or on open shelving.

Outdoors
The same tableware follows you onto the terrace, into the garden or on the road. An enamel mug can be heated on a camping stove or near the embers, then go straight from the flame to your hand. Light and compact, the pieces fit easily into a rucksack, a car boot or a van’s storage.

Good to know
Enamel is glass: a sharp knock can chip it. A chip doesn’t stop you using the piece, but exposed metal can rust if left damp, so just dry your tableware well after washing. Enamelled steel is not microwave-safe. Over a flame, avoid heating an empty vessel.

Care
Wash in hot soapy water with a non-abrasive sponge, then dry. Hand-washing keeps the enamel’s gloss for longer.
