Coffee pots & Cezve
A cezve for Turkish coffee, a coffee pot for your morning brew. Two simple ways to make coffee over a flame, in the kitchen or at camp.
The cezve: coffee brewed slowly
A small long-handled pot with a narrow neck, the cezve is used to make Turkish coffee. It is also known as a jezve in the Caucasus, or an ibrik in English. Very finely ground coffee goes into cold water, with or without sugar, and is heated gently until the foam rises, without boiling. It is served unfiltered, with the grounds left to settle at the bottom of the cup.
The coffee pot: for several cups
Larger, the coffee pot makes coffee for the whole table. Set it on the hob, a camping stove or near the embers, then bring it straight to the table.
At home and outdoors
Both work without electricity or capsules. Day to day, they sit on the hob. Hiking, in the van or in the garden, they go on a camping stove or a wood fire.
